Rýže se Salámem

1 cup rice
4 frankfurters
1 onions
1 - 15 oz can of peas
10 pieces of dried cloves
oil






Cook rice with cloves until rice is soft. Chop onion and add to small pan. Fry onion in oil until brown. When the onion is brown, add chopped frankfurters. Cook until brown. Mix frankfurters and onions to rice and add can of drained peas. Salt and pepper to taste.

Bramborový Guláš

8 potatoes
1 lb. frankfurters
1 whole onion
2 bay leaves
8 allspice
8 black peppercorn
1 tbsp. paprika
16 oz. sour cream
2 strips of bacon
1 cup flour
salt to taste
oil

Coat the bottom of a large pot with oil and brown onion, bacon, allspice, black peppercorn, and bay leaves. Chop frankfurters to thin pieces and add to pot when bacon and onion has browned. Allow sausages to brown. Add 10-12 cups of water. Chop potatoes to half inch cubes and add to pot. Add paprika. When potatoes are soft, remove one cup of liquid from pot and mix sour cream to the liquid. Add sour cream mixture back to pot. Remove one cup of liquid from pot and add flour to the liquid. Add flour mixture back to pot and let thicken. Add salt to taste.

Serves 6-8

Kapustové Karbanátky

1 lb. ground turkey
1 lb. ground pork
2 lb. Brussels sprouts
2 cloves of garlic
2 eggs
1 cup bread crumbs
half of a medium onion
salt and pepper to taste
oil





Boil Brussels sprouts until tender. Drain and let cool. Mash Brussels sprouts. Add Brussels sprouts and all ingredients to large bowl and blend together well. Form patties and fry in oiled pan until brown and crispy.

Serve with boiled, salted potatoes. Sprinkle with dill or parsley.

Květákový Mozeček

1 whole cauliflower
1 onion
8 eggs
.5 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. parsley
salt and pepper to taste
oil






Oil the bottom of large pan. Slice and brown onion. Chop cauliflower to 1 inch cubes. When onion is brown, add cauliflower. Cook until cauliflower is soft over medium heat. Mix eggs in bowl and add remaining ingredients. Add to cauliflower and cook until eggs are done.

Serve with boiled potatoes or rice.

Vepřové Výpečky

4-5 lb. pork roast
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. black peppercorns
1.5 tsp. garlic powder
1 bay leaf
1.5 tsp. salt
7 cloves garlic
3 pieces uncooked bacon
1 stick margarine
1 cup water
8 oz. sour cream


Preheat oven to 450° F. Remove roast from bone and cut into cubes. Put in pan and add all ingredients. Cook for 1.5-2 hours until meat is cooked all the way. Broil meat for 10-15 minutes or until meat is crispy.

Sides:

Sauerkraut:
In a saucepan, brown 1 whole onion, add 32 oz. sauerkraut. Add 2 cups water, and cook over low heat for 1 hour. Add sugar and vinegar to taste.

Potatoes:
Boil 8 peeled, cubed potatoes for 15 minutes. Add 1 tsp. salt.

Bramborák

3 eggs
8 medium potatoes
5 cloves garlic
2.5 cups flour
1 tbsp. majoram
.5 tsp. garlic salt
.5 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
1 cup sauerkraut (optional)
1 smoked sausage (optional)
sour cream (optional)


Peel and shred the potatoes into a medium bowl.
Add the majoram, eggs, flour, garlic salt, sauerkraut, and garlic. Add cubed smoked sausage, and stir until blended. Add salt and pepper.

Turn the stove to medium heat. Add oil so it covers the bottom. When the oil is hot, drop in a spoonful of the batter.

Cook until golden brown on both sides. Let drain on paper towel.

Serve with sour cream.
